This weekend, we will be hoping to finish up our assessments of springs in preparation for controlled burns that will be conducted in the area in May and June. It is unknown how fire affects spring ecosystems, so this trip will be focused on collecting baseline information on springs before fire.

SIA is going to New Mexico! Join us as we re-create habitat for pollinators and other species at Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. We will be building upon work we did last year to plant and stabilize a slope that was intensively burned a couple years ago.

Celebrate Independence Day out in the Sky Islands! We will be working at "Camp Rucker" in Rucker Canyon, on the west side of the Chiricahua Mountains, at just under 6,000 feet in elevation. Join us as we put the finishing touches on our work at this historic cavalry camp to create ponds that support Chiricahua leopard frogs, bats, and native pollinator species.

We will be installing more native plants as we continue our work at the historic cavalry camp where we have created three ponds that will one day support Chiricahua leopard frogs, as well as the bats, toads, dragonflies, and various native pollinator species that are already calling these ponds home. This is a CAMPING TRIP, we will not be staying at the nearby station.

As part of National Public Lands Day we will be continuing to enhance natural conditions near the two new bridges in Madera Canyon and at a new interpretive area. Come out and help stabilize this beautiful canyon (and birding hotspot) just an hour south of Tucson.
