Calling all birders in the Sky Islands! We’re launching a new bird-monitoring project, Springs Bird Watch, to document the region’s avian diversity and the water sources that birds and other wildlife depend on, from low desert to upper pines. Join our virtual Coffee Break to learn how to get started, where to go, and how your observations at springs can help both resident and migratory species, from hermit thrushes and hummingbirds to yellow-billed cuckoos and elegant trogons. Eamon Harrity, SIA’s wildlife program manager and an enthusiastic birder, will lead the talk and explain how your data will help advance both bird and spring conservation. |

Help us install wildlife-friendly fencing at a spring in the Santa Teresa Mountains to exclude cattle and protect water for wildlife! Stowe Spring is located in Stowe Gulch (one of the main tributaries of Aravaipa Canyon) in the Santa Teresa Mountains outside of TNC's Aravaipa Canyon Preserve. We will be carpooling from camp to a parking area near the spring each day, and will have a short hike to our worksite. |

In this talk, SIA Wildlife Specialist Meagan Bethel will present on the remarkable journey of a male ocelot named "Himdam" as he journeyed across four mountain ranges in the Sky Islands of Arizona, the longest-known trek by a single member of the species. It did so in the shadow of border wall construction, mine expansion, and I-11 corridor exploration, underscoring the fragility of our region and the threats wildlife face. |

Join us to learn about binational conservation efforts around Saguaro National Park and the Área de Protección de Flora y Fauna Bavispe. A “buen vecino,” or good neighbor, can take many forms, whether you’re a staff member with the National Park Service, a Mexican forest ranger, a homeowner or volunteer near Saguaro National Park, or a rancher next to Sonora’s Bavispe reserve. Come hear a variety of perspectives on conservation efforts that reflect our region’s landscapes and communities. This bilingual event is open to the public, and we hope it inspires more folks to participate in community science and efforts to restore habitat connectivity within the binational Sky Island region. The free event will be in the visitor center theater as well as outdoors. Light refreshments will be provided. |

Join us at Lewis Springs, next to the San Pedro River, to remove invasive Johnsongrass around endangered Eryngo plants native to this site. We'll be camping for the weekend at the San Pedro House, but day-trippers are also welcome. And there will be time each day to explore the river. |
