Sky Island Workshop: Key Messages and Comment Writing on the Border Barrier Remediation Plan
January 28, 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Outraged by the wall in southeastern Arizona? Right now, we have the chance to do something about it.
Come learn how to write comments to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) about their Remediation Plan for the Tucson Sector! Submit your comments by Feb 3, 2022 and make your voice heard for the wildlife and landscapes of the Sky Island borderlands.
On Friday, January 28, Emily Burns from Sky Island Alliance and Myles Traphagen from Wildlands Network will host a comment writing workshop and share priority messages on desired conservation outcomes to include in your comments. You will learn how to provide direct feedback to the USCBP on their Border Barrier Remediation Plan for the Tucson Sector, including instructions on how to comment on specific actions by using the Plan’s online interactive map.
Proposed actions by USCBP currently include:
- Filling small gaps in the border wall
- Installing new culverts to aid drainage
- Reseeding construction sites
- Creating wildlife crossing holes in the wall that measure roughly 8.5 x 11 inches
Together, we can stand up and ask for significant improvements to landscape conditions. Please share this event with your networks and help us advocate for a better future for the borderlands!
Date & Time: Friday, January 28, 2022 — 12:30 p.m. PST; 1:30 p.m. Arizona Time.
