SIA’s Ranchos Regenerativos project seeks direct collaboration with the community, students, and ranch owners to achieve clear results in conservation and sustainable management of natural resources. Explore the options below for ways to participate in this project.
Participate as a Landowner, Rancher, or Ejido Member
If you are the owner of a ranch or ejido and want to join the Ranchos Regenerativos project, you’re in the right spot! For the collaboration to work, it’s important that there is full commitment. Ranch owners and their staff must be directly involved in the planning and execution of activities, maintaining a responsibility that will help achieve greater results and real benefits that will help the soil, water, biodiversity, and productivity of the ranch.
Before applying, review the document: Regenerative Ranches: Agreements and Expectations. If you have questions, send an email to our techs Karen Aglaee Lopez Roman or Michell Cordova. If you agree and want to participate, register in the following form, and we will contact you soon with the next steps.
Participate as a Volunteer
You can join us in upcoming volunteer opportunities to gain hands-on experience and support real restoration and natural resource management projects on regenerative ranches.
- Step 1: Sign our volunteer agreement and tell us what kind of projects you’re interested in.
- Step 2: Follow us on social media, sign up for our newsletter, and check our website calendar for upcoming events. We may also contact you occasionally with volunteer opportunities.
Participate as a Student
Currently, Sky Island Alliance has an agreement with the Universidad de la Sierra (UniSierra) and collaborates with the Universidad de Sonora, supporting students at different stages of their academic process.
If you are a student and would like to be part of this project, you can do so in the following ways:
- Community service — supporting SIA in activities and projects.
- Professional internships — conducting restoration activities and learning about the management of regenerative ranches in Sonora.
- Residencies and research projects — this consists of developing academic and science-based capstone projects that yield reliable results, advance our work on environmental issues, help create new projects or field techniques, and expand our knowledge about the Sky Islands.
