Sky Island Alliance is joining 70 other local Tucson groups representing social, political, and environmental activism and civic causes for the biggest community volunteer event of the year! Once again, we’ll gather with tables full of literature, petitions, and passions at The Historic Y.

The festive atmosphere will feature food, drink and music in the lovely lobby and courtyard of The Historic Y, 300 University at 5th Avenue, as seasoned activists and new volunteers socialize and mobilize for positive change.

New this year: mini-workshops, 15-20 minutes each on the following topics: 3:30: Best Practices in Registering a Voter, the OFA Way; 4:00: Letters to Editors – Join Us and Learn How; 4:30: Fake News or Real News: How to Tell the Difference; 5:00: Using the Arizona Legislature’s Request to Speak Program (RTS); 5:30: Islamophobia and Its Effects on Muslim Children.

The fair will end with a staged reading of a new political play, “The Real Machiavelli,” by playwright Monica Bauer as part of Bad Hombres and Nasty Women’s nation-wide “Not My President’s Day” protests. The free play reading begins at 7pm, at the Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre inside The Historic Y.
