People from all over the world come to southern Arizona to experience the great outdoors, recreate, and just be among the area’s scenic landscapes and wildlife. But how much is that worth, and what are the costs if it’s lost?
In this virtual Coffee Break, we’re joined by Borderlands Restoration Network board member Chuck Klingenstein, who shares results from the first Nature-Based Restorative Economy study in Santa Cruz County, commissioned by the community and conducted by the University of Arizona. This in-depth study looked at the many benefits nature provides to our economy in southern Arizona through ecotourism, conservation, and other activities. SIA Executive Director Louise Misztal also provides updates on South32’s Hermosa Mine in the Patagonia Mountains and how you can speak up for this natural gem that supports our well-being and economy by taking action during the current comment period on the mine’s impacts.
