Emily joined Sky Island Alliance as the program director in 2019 and is based out of the Tucson, Arizona, office. She directs work and staff in the U.S., conducting wildlife research through our Border Wildlife Study and Sky Island FotoFauna projects, water monitoring through Spring Seeker and riparian surveys, conservation advocacy, and restoration activities across public and private lands. She oversees the organization’s annual plan and public grant fundraising and administration. She received her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2009 and worked for Save the Redwoods League, leading climate change research, restoration, and education until 2019 when she moved to the Sky Islands with her family. Emily loves growing all plants and especially cactus, has four rescue tortoises, and directs the annual Sky Island “Nutcracker” each December in celebration of the remarkable wildlife that call our region home.
