So many species — both plant and animal — can be found at springs in the Sky Island region. See our guide to aquatic invertebrates, and use the photo galleries below to learn more about the wildlife you may find while out doing Spring Seeker surveys.

The plant, animal, and invertebrate species present at springs can help us understand how often the site has water. There are also springs that have species that aren’t found anywhere else. And there are plants, in particular, that are non-native or even invasive that can out-compete native plants.
