A Fond Farewell From SIA Development Director Amy Amoroso

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Partners,

My time with Sky Island Alliance has come to a close.

It’s been an honor to support the organization’s critical work in the Sky Island region since 2021, and I will continue to support from afar.

In my years at SIA, I have worked behind the scenes to revamp development and fundraising systems and processes and growing our annual donations, which ultimately meant we could grow our conservation work in the region.

I’ve also worked closely with communications staff on newsletters and annual reports, our appeals and and getting our name out in the community so that folks like you can get connected to SIA’s amazing work. I even wrote a few blogs!

Seeding
One of my favorite memories from my time at SIA — scattering seed here, alongside my husband John, as part of a road rewilding volunteer weekend in the Huachuca Mountains.

I have enjoyed the many personal and professional relationships within our extensive alliance of community members in the U.S. and Mexico. And I have so many cherished memories ranging from rewilding roads with volunteers in the Huachucas to having meaningful conversations tabling in the Chiricahuas.

Another special memory for me is being in the Tucson office, in 2024, when Meagan Bethel was reviewing our wildlife camera photos and came across a jaguar photo — SIA’s first jaguar sighting in Arizona. Louise and I were meeting at the time and ran out to shouts of joy, and together we looked at the image of this magnificent creature on Meagan’s screen.

The most important work I did was to create infrastructure and raise seed funding to maintain and grow SIA into the future through the establishment of the Forever Fund

I start my new position as Senior Community Impact Manager with the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in April, and I’m sure our paths will cross again somewhere out in vibrant community of Tucson and Southern Arizona. And I look forward to seeing SIA’s future successes supporting wildlife and wild places throughout the region.

With gratitude,
