Subscribe: Spotify / Apple Podcasts

We’re back today with another episode of “Mujeres Fronterizas” — our podcast featuring women in conservation in the borderlands. In this episode, our first in Spanish, SIA board member Christian Aguilar Murrieta interviews Sky Island Alliance’s Mónica Montaño about her role as environmental outreach coordinator, mentor to biology students at the Universidad de la Sierra, and lead organizer for the upcoming Festival de las Islas del Cielo in Moctezuma, Sonora, from Oct. 11-12.

Mónica also shares more about the early influences that shaped her career, from camping with her family to visiting her grandparents’ ranches. And she discusses some of the challenges she’s faced along the way.

Mónica is a graduate of the biology program at the Universidad de la Sierra and first joined SIA as an intern and later a fellow before taking on her current role as environmental outreach coordinator.
