Ranchos Regenerativos InternHi, I’m Valentina Ocampo and I study Natural Renewable Resources Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo in Texcoco, Estado de México. I’m currently about to begin my seventh semester.
I became interested in the Ranchos Regenerativos program after taking a Rangeland Management course and realizing it’s an area I really enjoy and would like to work in in the future. I’m also interested in understanding how livestock ranching and conservation can work together.
I learned about Sky Island Alliance at an event related to regenerative ranching, and when the opportunity came up to do an internship with the Ranchos Regenerativos program in Cananea, it seemed like a great way to learn more about the work being done directly on the ranches.
I really enjoy wildlife and love being out in the field and learning from the places I visit. I hope this internship allows me to gain hands-on experience, better understand the work being carried out, and continue building my professional path in rangeland management and natural resources.
