Pronouns: She/Her/Ella

I’m honored to serve as a member of the Sky Island Alliance board and am looking forward to supporting the organization’s conservation and scientific mission. I worked as an attorney and mediator/ombudsperson for many years in Palo Alto at Stanford University, as well as in private and corporate settings. I moved to Tucson for the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and Sky Islands. I enjoy hiking and camping — especially in the Grand Canyon, Chiricahuas, and Catalinas — and for as long as I can remember, I’ve loved the outdoors. My family camped and backpacked in the High Sierras every summer of my childhood. I was very lucky.

Growing up in Santa Barbara, I witnessed first-hand the devastation of the Union Oil Spill in 1969. What had been a pristine marine environment was wiped out in days. It was an early life lesson, and I’ve been involved in environmental organizations ever since.

I am particularly concerned with the impact of barriers to wildlife movement at the border and our human impacts on the Sky Islands’ natural environment. I believe the work of SIA’s dedicated staff and volunteers is critical to this region’s future.
