Christian Aguilar Murrieta

Pronouns: She/Her/Ella

I was born and raised on the Baja California peninsula, in Mexico, where I developed a deep interest in exploring the rural communities of the Sonoran Desert and gained a great love and respect for the unique flora and fauna of this region. I hold a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona, and I am a founder of NALA, short for Nativas Landscape, a design firm based in Tucson and La Paz, Mexico, that specializes in passive rainwater harvesting, as well as recreating habitats for wildlife in an urban setting, utilizing the native vegetation of this region. I also collaborate with the local nonprofit Tucson Clean and Beautiful as a GSI designer and project manager, where I get to beautify parks and underutilized spaces in Tucson. It’s an honor to serve as a member of the Sky Island Alliance board. I admire their efforts to raise awareness, educate, and inspire on both sides of the border — and I hope to be of great help in their work.
