Ángel Octavio Garcia Godinez

Pronouns: He/Him/Él

Ángel Garcia has spent the last two years working with Sky Island Alliance as an intern (2020) and a Sky Island Fellow (2021) before finally joining our team full-time in 2022 as our Sonoran Springs Specialist. Ángel focuses on our Spring Seeker program, visiting and monitoring important springs throughout Sonora. He also helps run our Spanish communications channels.

In March 2021, Ángel graduated from the Universidad de la Sierra with a degree in biology (read his thesis here). As a student, he especially enjoyed his coursework in zoology, ecology, and chemistry, and the fieldwork and practical experience the classes offered. He is fascinated by nature, and plans to find a job in conservation, continue volunteering for projects like reforestation, and hopefully return to school someday for a master’s degree.

His favorite Sky Island to visit is the Sierra del Tigre in Sonora, which he first visited as a young child.
