Aravaipa Canyon Restoration
During this trip we are continuing a new task in Aravaipa Canyon - removing an invasive plant called vinca (or periwinkle) from the understory of the creek banks. This will require digging and fastidious removal of root material, with tools provided by Sky Island Alliance. We'll be bending, digging, and getting dirty. We will also be installing native plants in previously cleared areas to improve pollinator habitat.

Madera Canyon Restoration
Santa Rita Mountains Proctor Road, Green Valley, AZ, United StatesIf you've been down to Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains recently, you may have noticed that there are two new bridges near the trailheads. We are working with the Coronado National Forest, Borderlands Restoration, and Friends of Madera Canyon to restore ecosystem function at the site. Come out and help stabilize this beautiful canyon (and birding hotspot) just an hour south of Tucson.
