A Fond Farewell to Georgina

This month we said a fond farewell to Georgina Waller as she sailed off into retirement. She first joined our staff in 2019 supporting fundraising work and we quickly realized we had found a real gem!  Over the past several years you may have had the pleasure of chatting with Georgina at an event, on the phone when you called to make a donation, or when she called you to renew your donation. In a short amount of time Georgina cleaned up our donor database, put the systems we needed in place to keep us organized and on track, and wowed donors and partners with her friendly chats.

She has been a ray of sunshine at Sky Island Alliance and incredible asset to our fundraising and administrative work. She’s kept us running smoothly and kept our spirits up during the difficulty of the COVID pandemic. Georgina is one of those special people who you are always delighted to see and talk to. Her steadfast work, nuggets of wisdom, and wonderful energy will be missed.

We took a little time to reminisce with Georgina last week and to share with her what her contributions have meant to our team and our work. Although we will miss her terribly, we will carry with us her warmth and compassion, her love for the wildlife of the Sky Islands, particularly bears, and her wonderful organized systems that have kept the organization thriving under her tenure.   Many thanks for all of your wonderful work and your uplifting presence Georgina! We wish you all the best in your retirement.
