Calling all desert dwellers and nature lovers: your photos are needed!
Sky Island Alliance has partnered with the new outdoor desert wear company Erem on their Desert Visions photo contest, and your submissions to the contest on our behalf will help us raise money to quench the thirst of jaguars, elf owls, coatimundi, and other iconic Sky Island species.
Here’s how it works. Between October 15 and 31:
On Facebook and Instagram, simply upload a photo (or two or three—or as many as you want, really!) that captures the landscapes, essence, colors, animals, and/or impacts of the desert. We want to see your take of the high desert, from water to wildlife to dazzling sunsets. Feel free to get creative!
For your posts to count, though, you’ll need to follow these guidelines:
On Instagram:
- Follow @erem_desert and @skyislandalliance.
- Tag @skyislandalliance and @erem_desert in your photo submissions.
- Like and support other submissions to the Desert Visions contest.
- Post as many times as you’d like—and encourage your friends and family to join, too!
On Facebook:
- Follow @Erem and @skyislandalliance.
- Tag @SkyIslandAlliance and @EremDesert in your photo submissions.
- Like and support other submissions to the Desert Visions contest.
- Post as many times as you’d like—and encourage your friends and family to join, too!
For each person who submits a photo to the Desert Visions contest and tags Sky Island Alliance in the photo, Erem will make a $0.10 donation to our Spring Seeker program. With these donations, we will continue measure the health and conditions of our Sky Island springs and watersheds that support our local desert habitats, species, and people.
So, in a nutshell: the more desert photos you post on our behalf, the more we’ll be able to raise for Sky Island springs and the species that rely on them! Plus, we’ll share some of our favorite submissions on our social media pages to give them a boost.
From November 8 to 16:
After the submission window closes, Desert Visions will enter a voting period. One photo that supports each participating organization (there are eight desert nonprofits participating in this contest) will be selected for public voting.
On November 8th, the finalists will be announced. Public voting on these eight finalists will run from November 9th to the 16th. For every vote cast on Sky Island Alliance’s photo, Erem will donate an extra $0.25 to our Spring Seekers program—so be sure to stick around for voting!
Participants who reach this final stage are also eligible to win $500, a pair of Erem desert boots, and other fun prizes if their photo gets the most likes during the voting window.
