Nadira Mitchell is a member of the Navajo Nation (Diné), born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. She graduated with honors from the University of Arizona in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Wildlife Conservation and Management, and a minor in American Indian Studies. Nadira previously was a Path of the Jaguar intern with Sky Island Alliance in the summer of 2022 where she assisted with SIA’s Spring Seeker, FotoFauna, and Border Wildlife Study programs. She is excited to be working again with Sky Island Alliance to process wildlife camera data and assist in any way she can!
As well as being a wildlife intern with Sky Island Alliance, Nadira is a restoration ecology apprentice with Watershed Management Group, where she assists with their River Run Network, annual binational beaver monitoring, and coordination with the Santa Cruz Watershed Collaborative. In her professional journey, she intends to center Indigenous knowledge, strengthened relationships to the land, and our responsibility to future generations.
