Maggie Trinkle

Pronouns: She/Her/Ella

Maggie Trinkle, our Chief Financial Officer, started at Sky Island Alliance in 2012. She was born and raised in Tucson. She started out her journey as an English major and was an Arts writer for the Wildcat but put down her pen when she found she had a penchant for business, and went on to become a proud graduate of University of Arizona Eller College of Management, with an emphasis in Operations Management.

She worked as a Systems Manager in the Bay Area and then as a Quality Consultant (ISO-9000, and continual improvement work) before she and her now-ex-husband built a successful boutique IT consulting firm. When life circumstances brought her back to Tucson, it was by recommendation that Maggie found out about Sky Island Alliance.

Seeing the opportunity to #BearDown and share her years of business experience with a local organization was hard to pass up, and the consulting industry seemed an unrewarding and difficult gig to pull off while raising her kiddos. Maggie finds the daily challenges and joys of the nonprofit world a much better use of her energy.

Maggie would later find out that one of her favorite high school teachers had his hand in the origins of Sky Island Alliance, and has come to realize that there are power in numbers as well as in words. These days, Maggie spends her time scanning the path for new opportunities and tools for staff and, ultimately, loves telling the Sky Island Alliance’s financial story to anyone who has a minute!

Maggie was an Op-Ed Project’s Tucson Public Voices Fellow in 2019-2020 and has been published in Ms. Magazine and The Hill. She is often found taking The Writer’s Studio courses and is always working on a writing project in her spare time.

Her current career goal at Sky Island Alliance is to build resilient systems that can be scaled up for the next amazing 30 years of this nonprofit. As a huge fan of GenZ, especially her own teenangels, Maggie is excited to support the next generation of people that will lead us into a journey to see our landscapes reconnected and healed and thriving.
