Speak up for Sky Island wildlife – contact your Arizona Senators today

Despite calls to halt border wall construction to ensure community safety during the coronavirus pandemic and receiving over 7,000 comments opposing border wall, construction is accelerating. In July DHS began constructing border wall through the San Pedro River beddigging a trench and pouring concrete across the last undammed river in the desert Southwest. And, they began construction of two additional miles of wall through the Coronado National Memorial in the rugged Huachuca Mountains that stretch across the border into Mexico. These destructive and unnecessary walls in the Sky Islands are being constructed with funds found to be illegally transferred from the Department of Defense budget.

This construction will cut through the Path of the Jaguar, irreparably harm sensitive wildlife habitat, and will destroy the starting point of the scenic Arizona Trail.

Act now! Call Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally.

We need our Senators in Arizona to step up and work with their colleagues to demand a halt to border wall construction, to hold the  Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Patrol accountable, and to demand a real review of the profound social, environmental and economic damage it causes.

Hello. My name is _____ and I’m calling to urge you to take immediate action to save the Arizona National Scenic Trail and stop border wall construction through jaguar country in Arizona’s stunning Sky Island mountains. I urge you to demand accountability from the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Patrol, and request they halt border wall construction and begin a real review of the profound social, environmental and economic damage it causes. The 30-foot high border wall being built at a breakneck pace in Arizona is destroying our national treasures including: National Wildlife Refuges, National Memorials, National Forests, and the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.

Thank you for taking action! Ready to do more?
